What to expect from a Reflexology appointment.

So have you ever wondered what you should expect from a Reflexology treatment? Many of my clients have said, "that was better than I expected", " I dont like my feet, being touched", "WOW that was amazing, the best hours relaxation I have ever experienced".

Have you ever thought I'd like to try Reflexology, but don't know what to expect? Well let me take a minute to tell you, what all the fuss is about :)

Reflexology is based on the theory that specific acupressure points on either the hands or the feet correspond to specific muscles and organs of the body. Some examples of this being the base of the big toe represents the neck, the ball of the foot represents the lungs. A qualified and experienced reflexologist can apply pressure to these specific areas, and the the body can recognise this, and will work to create a state of homeostasis or balance.

Reflexology promotes benefits of relaxation, improved circulation and normalised function in the related area of the body. Typically the initial session will last around 60 minutes which includes a comprehensive questionnaire to help support the client through subsequent treatments and based on their specific needs. The client will be asked to remove shoes and socks and sit back in a reclining chair, whilst the reflexologist applies pressure using thumb and finger walking across the reflexes. Once the reflexologist has worked both feet, the treatment is closed with simple self-care instructions that support the client going forward.

So what will the client feel? many clients feel total relaxation, some even fall asleep. There maybe some after effects of the treatment, such as increased thirst or a feeling of tiredness, this is quite common and should pass within 48 hours.

I am very passionate about Reflexology and am keen to help clients through this fantastic non-intrusive holistic treatment, if you would like more information or would like to book an appoint to see how Reflexology can support you please get in touch, via my website. I look forward to hearing from you.
